Back to Work Day.

Today is day one after chemotherapy and Fred's feeling good.

We went by the doctor's office for an on-cure checkup.  This includes a blood test and a steroid shot.  The blood test, which they even had to twice, wasn't that bad.  The steroid shot was bad.  Fred had to drop trousers and get that shot in the rump.  It looked like a cartoon needle.  That one hurt, poor baby.

But we feel like we're coming back up to the surface and are able to figure out what the doctor and nurses are telling us now.  So today we were able to ask more questions and Dr. Janis calmly answered them.  He told us the PET scan showed all the cancer parts and they was only one spot on his colon and some on his liver.  The rest of his organs and bones and body were healthy and clear.  Fred will have eight chemotherapy treatments, each one two weeks apart.  So we pretty much know what we're doing every other Monday for a while.

Fred was also told not to take vitamins on his own. He is low on iron right now, but Dr. Janis wants to wait for his next few blood tests (tomorrow or Friday's) before making that decision.  He has even gained a little weight.  He dropped quickly from 260 to 243, but is now back up to 256.  And he's really strong.  Did I mention that already?

After the doctor, we stopped by our lawyer's office to sign some stuff and give them the rest of the money that we didn't leave at the doctor's.  We went and had lunch at Pei Wei and went by the office for the rest of the day.  I laid on the couch in the lobby and actually did some work.  I've been trying to figure out how to make that a permanent working situation for me.  If I just splay my three purses down in front of the couch, I can just work and write and make piles on the coffee table.  Totally doable, there's even a phone in the lobby.  Fred was in his office going through piles of papers and telling fibs to clients on the phone.

We left work and went home so I could lay on the couch over here and continue my work at home.  Accountant Daryl will be so happy tomorrow.

Katie and Chelsea had their friend Erin over for pasta night. After a while Fred left to have dinner with his mom and dad and Georgina while I stayed and sorted my papers.  Fred had Mexican food and visited for a few hours.  When he came home he was very full and happy to have hung out with them.  He said it was a great evening and they talked about a lot of things.  They are here in town until Thursday night.

Fred has a pre-construction meeting tomorrow morning with some suits at John Wayne Airport and then we'll go over to the doctor's office to get his portacath removed.  Lots of visiting and planning and writing down lists today.  This is overwhelming!

Good news on the cancer not being spread all around. Now we can zero in on it and annihilate it. Yes! So glad he had a nice day yesterday.
