Today we spent our first day in the party room at the doctor's office, which is what they call the infusion room. There are about 8 lazy boy recliners in there and the nurses just attend to each of the patients as they need them. I had a lot A LOT to do today. Phone calls, emails, pay bills, etc., but I sat next to Fred instead. I did what I wanted to do. The girls drove in their car up with us so they could check out where Fred was gonna be.
He worked on his laptop, took a nap and watched a comedy on netflix.com. He texted with his mom for a long time as well during the drip. He had tuna for breakfast and ate a roast beef sandwich for lunch. But he wanted Taco Bell and I said no.
Sitting next to Fred was another first timer, a handsome guy our age. He was only six weeks away from retirement when he got a diagnosis of Hodgkin's Lymphoma. He was mad. He told Fred they could be the cranky side of the room. He also has a portacath and was the only other person who had that all day. He also had a John Wayne movie, "The Sons of Katie Elder" to play in his laptop. He and Fred are pretty simpatico.
My cousin Steve has a list of what cancer people should go where. He wants us at Norris Center USC and I know TT & Dave were thrilled with them and she doesn't put up with any shenanagins. I will definitely report on our first appointment there, whenever that will be.
Steve told me that he wants to take the train up from San Diego and that he knows just how to get out at the right stop and take the USC employee shuttle to Norris. He said, “I love to ride the rails!” I'm gonna take him up on that.
After we were done at chemo we went to a meeting at the college regarding Stephanie's trip to Madrid next spring. They gave us an outline of what they were going to do and it's going to be very fun for Stephanie. What an adventure.
Now we are home again with Fred and his murse (man purse). He won't put it on as a fanny pack so he said he's just going to carry it around with him for the next 46 hours. He could wear it as a cod piece. Where would you get one of those? Are there Renaissance Faire costume stores? I'm just asking. Fred leaves his fanny pack on during the next 46 hours while the chemo is slowly pumped in, but he goes in tomorrow so they can check it. Wednesday they will remove it. He could be triple X straight edge with that fanny pack.
Oh, and about the bonfires from yesterday's post. Auntie Erika's friend got terribly burned at a bonfire and she put the kibosh on that. I don't like it much either, but I can't stop them.
He is sleeping and feels pretty good. We'll go to the doctor for a check up and then over to the office where Fred will work until I am tired of visitng everyone.
(Blogger thought it would be a good idea to remove the spell check on their blog edit windows, so please forgive any errors. Jodie)

No shenanagins! I love you guys. TT
It sounds like a good start. Hope the chemo goes easy.
