Cape Cod, Massachusetts

This was at the beach just outside Providence, Rhode Island. It was such a different beach than we've ever seen, with the great big houses and the wind-blown fences so close to the water. It just reminds me of so many books and movies where everyone lives in the city and then spends weekends and summers at the shore. I've never taken so many pictures of houses, every one similar and every one so big, save for a few tiny houses and mobile homes. I've just taken to snapping pictures along the highway. None are good enough to post. We spent the night in Cape Cod and ate at the Lobster Boat restaurant. Fred and I both had whole lobsters, Katie had the AMAZING clam chowder and Stephanie had a variety plate to try lots of stuff. We were upgraded by Expedia (because our original room had been rented) to a wonderful but dilapidated very old resort-style hotel, where it appeared to us that it was full of regulars and family reunion groups that came to stay for weekends all the time. It was way more than we would have paid for such a run-down hotel, but I think the idea was to run down to the beach which was right outside the sliding doors and run right back in and not worry about the carpet and room.........maybe. It was a little mysterious. No time for that, we're back on the road.
