Today I have a guest co-blogger, Fred McMilon.
I'm in chemo today and the Dr. Janis gave me very good news. He said that my CEA count is 60.8.
CEA (carcinoembryonic antigen) is used as a marker to monitor the treatment of cancer patients, especially those with colon cancer. Normal is 5 ng/mL - nanogram (ng) per milliliter (mL). A nanogram is one-billionth of a gram.)
When I was first diagnosed back in October, my CEA count was "too numerous to count" and they give a default of 500 but it could be any amount, they stop trying to count. On December 28th, chemo #5, my CEA count had dropped to 350. That was so cool. But today it's at 60.8.
Dr. Janis is thinking about doing some x-rays. He also mentioned that he might do another session of eight more chemos without a break because I am responding so well to treatment. I forgot to ask if he upped my chemo this week like he has the last two times.
Today for lunch Jodie brought the food I ordered from Carolina's Italian restaurant. Lasagne, salad, cheese pizza, hot wings, zucchini and mozzarella sticks and tiramisu. It was good and everyone enjoyed it.
Tonight Jod and I are leaving for Las Vegas. We are going to stay at her friend Michele's house in my dad's motorhome. There is a big gun show there that is only open to dealers. My friend (Chelsea's dad), Viga is also attending the show. He works for a magazine publisher that features guns, ammo and knives. I think Michele's husband Greg is going to go also. Jodie will just hang out with Michele, I'm sure. Because Viga and Dodie drove up there this weekend, Katie, Chelsea and Janet took Katie's car and went with them and stayed at Treasure Island. They are on their way home today because Chelsea starts her semester tomorrow. We will be home on Wednesday morning.
Stephanie will be staying home, someone has to run the business! She also starts school tomorrow. She'll be attending her classes with the other students that are going to Madrid. I'm glad she'll be hanging out with the other people here instead of just meeting them in Spain. It's gonna be so cool.
