Port of McMilon

Today Fred had a portable catheter put in the upper right side of his chest.  They even shaved it which looks pretty funny.  It was placed completely beneath his skin, and the catheter is connected to a small flexible tube that was inserted inside his jugular vein. This will allow his chemo to be delivered or have blood samples withdrawn without having to stick his arm veins directly with a needle.

This is an animation of how it works with narration.  It's not gross at all.  Port movie
On Monday the portacath will really come in when he goes in for his first chemotherapy.  This will include a 46-hour dose that will be administered via a fanny pack that he wears home after about four hours.

It all went very smoothly, and he only needed just some tylenol this afternoon.  They also dosed him up with anti-nausea medicine and he like that a LOT.

Now back to me.  Hardy har.  I went to (MS) Dr. Florin today and he was concerned that I may be having a flare up of my most recent attack last November.  I told him that my right side skin troubles weren't getting better, sometimes a little worse.  Also that the fatigue is getting to me.  Tiring, you know?  He did a neurological workup on me and I guess I didn't get an A.  So I'm going to have an MRI sooner rather than later, which was going to be January anyways.  He also gave me something for the fatigue.  Maybe I'll start cleaning this place up again....
