Saturday the 16th

Last night Macario and I were talking in the living room until all hours. Leslie finally laid on the couch and fell asleep.

This morning after swimming, I met the girls at Starbucks, and then went to Gymnastics and swimming lessons together. Then we had tasty ahi don plates at Puka Puka Kitchen for lunch, and then I stayed in town to hunt and gather gifts to take home, while Emma Rose and Leslie went back to the house.

Leslie's friend Roland (I met him at the play the other night) called and asked if we wanted to go to a baby's first lu‘au with him in Papaikou. Macario wasn't feeling well, but Leslie, Emma Rose and I went.  There was a lot of great music happening there. There was a lot of Hawaiian language going on there at the party.

And the food. Oh my goodness, the food. Every kind of delicous island food.  When Leslie told Emma Rose we were going to a lu‘au, she said, "I bet there will be kalua pig!" She powered impressively through the kalua pig and poi. She climbed extensively on the "monkey bars" (a metal gate) with other little kids, and enjoyed that a lot.

We went back to her house and talked again til very late.  Super nice day.
