I flew away to Hawai'i tonight, first time in over 20 years. I never thought it would be that long between visits.
I left LAX at 6 p.m. My Lucy friend Erika wrangled me some lovely standby tickets because she's cool that way. I'm off to see my best-friend-since-third-grade Leslie, her husband Macario and their four-year-old daughter, Emma Rose. They live outside of Hilo, but I'm flying to Kona, staying the night and driving over to Hilo tomorrow.
I was seated in Economy Plus, which was super terrific. I figure it's like business class, which I'm built for. One of my favorite movie lines is "She's got a beautiful face, but she's business class." It's from Swingers. Business Class: (adj) Possessing a large enough posterior to necessitate flight arrangements other than coach seating. The paint was dark blue on the engine under the wing and I could see the reflection of what was on the other side of the plane. It was cool to look at that for those few minutes at takeoff. I could see both north and south of airport before we went over the ocean.
