Now, apparently Labor Day weekend is Gay Pride New Orleans. See, I did not know that. It wouldn’t have changed things, but its added a whole new dimension to the nightlife.
Except that bars are open 24 hours a day in New Orleans and you're allowed to take your drink outside. So everyone is really drunk and uninhibited. But we steer clear of Bourbon Street anyway, which is where celebrations are. But Bourbon Street is gross and touristy. And gross.
This is our fourth gay pride weekend. When we were in London three years ago, it happened to be gay pride weekend. Then a couple of years ago we were in San Francisco for the weekend and it was gay pride weekend! Same in San Diego. We've never actually been to the parade, we just are there on the same weekends.
Who'd of thunk it?

Did you ever hear the story of how Greg went on a ski trip in Vancouver with all his football buddies a couple of years ago and left me here by myself with 4 children under 2? Ten big fat hairy guys went. They thought they could get a little of the magic back from when they were Big Men on Campus.
Turns out it was Gay Pride Week and he was there with 10 men. He said there was two women in the hot tub and they all went to get in and the women went running out of the tub.
When he called to tell me, I said, "Well, you must be the ugliest men there then." Then I laughed and laughed and laughed.
The next day I called and left a message on their hotel answering machine, "Hi, I was just wondering if you guys are skiing BrokeBack Mountain today?"
It made taking care of the kids totally worth it.
And Greg seems to be such a girlie man....he didn't just fit in???
Good message...always leave a message that totally wrecks it for them.
Make sure you zoom in on the picture of the army truck in my Evacuate! post. No, that's not Fred standing there without his shirt on.
