Today we just drove and drove, ate at every Waffle House on the way.
Then, there it was, the giant ball of twine Fred had been hoping to find: "Big Daddy" Don Garlits' Museum and Gift shop in Ocala, Florida! Yippity Doo! I stayed in the car and had the best nap ever. Over an hour. The girls went in with Fred and they took many photos. There were dragsters that had belonged to Tom "The Mongoo$e" McEwen, Connie Kalitta, Don "The Snake" Prudhomme...I'll stop.
We went on to cruise through many miles of amazing back country roads. It was a great day. We stopped at an Applebee's to eat dinner. We've tried avoid regular chain restaurants (in life also) except for the Waffle Houses apparently, but we had put in a big day of driving and we were tuckered out.
When we got out of the car, I was singing some Johnny Cash song loudly and this handsome dude says, "How ya doing?" as he's getting out of his truck. He must have thought I was a nut. Then I confirmed it by answering, "I'm hungry!" I thought Stephanie was gonna clock me.
