The house is exactly the same as he had it, with fabulous antiques. Candlesticks belonging to George and Martha Washington. Audubons and other original paintings. And a cat.
After dinner we zipped up to Charleston, South Carolina. Looked at Fort Sumter and the Henley, a civil-war era submarine.

7-17-06 Garden of Good and Evil
We stayed last night in the nicest hotel we'll stay in on the trip. The Marshall House in Savannah, built 1741. Super fun.
Today we just cruised around Savannah, looking at the houses and squares and amazing vines hanging from the trees. We took a tour of the Mercer House, where Jim Williams lived and restored it. It's his story that was made famous in the book and movie, "Midnight in the Garden of Good and Evil." Kevin Spacey plays Jim Williams. If you haven't seen it, I highly recommend it.
