Stop me if you've heard this one before.

I'm looking for answers to my medical dilemma. It's weird and my doctor most likely thinks I'm nuts and am making it up. So here's the story. We went to Las Vegas on November 8th for Stephanie's 21st birthday (super fun). About Saturday night my right forearm felt "bruisy" each time I would rest it on a cool surface, such as marble or tile. The next day Stephanie I went down to the pool and I noticed that my right hip and foot also felt felt fuzzy and irritated by cold surfaces, as if that limb was asleep. I didn't notice it. We were walking and walking, day and night, through casinos, shopping, like you do. You always feel weird in Vegas. Too much food and coffee and buffets, too many cocktails along the way. It causes your body to feel all kinds of weird. No big deal. Then we came home and I started feeling so bad. Just cold and bruisy on both arms and legs and then a strange feeling in my body, just so hot and feeling bad and tired. I'm able to get up and go to work and get stuff done but nothing extra. Then I go home and get back in bed with pillows on my legs to keep them feeling warm, although Fred continues to reassure me that they are normal temperature. I have to be really careful about some stuff, because my right hand and foot can't feel hot and cold. Cold just stings and hot doesn't burn until quite a bit later. I was putting something in the oven and I leaned my hand on our antique stove a moment after the griddle had been turned off and didn't know it was hot until I felt this strange pain in my hand bones! I'm taking a medicine which is for nerve pain related to diabetes or shingles. It's called Lyrica. It hasn't changed the way my skin feels or made any of my symptoms better, but it has altered my mood and I have a very short fuse now. I am even more negative than before and frankly, we couldn't believe that was possible. So I added Vicodin for fun (with Dr.'s ok) but it doesn't help much. They gave me a very in-depth blood test on the 11th which only showed that I'm pretty anemic, but I've been borderline for a year, so that wasn't big news. Then I had a head MRI and they didn't see anything very interesting there, either. Just some very small thingies. Medical term. We have always have this slight MS possibility in the background because of my vertigo. They still don't see anything that is pointing to that, however. I'm waiting to see a neurologist. The first appointment is December 14th. They will want to do another MRI, most likely, and other tests. It's hard to wait though. So I'm just low-functioning Jodie right now. The girls are picking up my slack and poor Kathy at the office is working furiously by herself. This week I haven't made it into the office at all. I'm answering so many emails from my blackberry because my laptop broke. It TOTALLY BROKE AND DIED on the way to Las Vegas and I have not had the gumption to get it back to speed. My good friend Luweed had to fix it, which took DAYS. (By fixing it, he had to format my hard drive and reload windows. The good news is that we always partition our hard drives in case this happens. I didn't lose any files that is on the partition doesn't have windows loaded. 50 gigabytes of pictures. That might have been why it crashed, though. That's a lot of pictures.) Anyway. This is an interesting medical situation, isn't it? Have you ever heard of this?

STOP!

I just spent a half an hour in Lyrica forums and you are having side effects from it. STOP TAKING IT! It can cause loss of sensation in your limbs that can resemble the feelings you are expressing about hot and cold.

STOP TAKING IT!

How long have you been taking it?
